6th Gup Testing Requirements (24 Classes minimum)

Basics (yellow stripe)

  • Jump Side Kick
  • Able to tie belt
  • Spinning Back Kick
  • Able to tie uniform
  • Ax Kick
  • Crescent Kick (inside out)
  • Crescent Kick (outside in)


Self Defense (blue stripe)

  • Two head lock releases
  • One Step Sparring


Physical Requirements (red stripe)

  • 25 push-ups
  • 25 crunches
  • 25 jumping jacks
  • Jump Rope
  • 12 & under - 50
  • 13 & over - 100 

Patterns (black stripe)

  • Do-San
  • Saju with all new techniques


Knowledge (green stripe)

  • Count to 40 in Korean
  • Meaning of Do-San
  • Korean Terminology for Kicks
  • Front Kick - Ap Chagi
  • Side Kick - Ypu Chagi
  • Turning Kick - Dollyo Chagi
  • Names and uses of all techniques in pattern


Free Sparring

  • Two rounds


Board Breaking

  • 4 boards adults
  • 3 boards kids
  • (instructor choice)

The following will be used to show that the student is able to perform the task for each stripe:

Yellow Stripe - Able to perform all basics listed for new rank

Green Stripe - Able to show knowledge needed for new rank

Blue Stripe - Able to perform required self defense techniques for new rank

Red Stripe - Able to perform all physical fitness requirements for new rank

Black Stripe - Able to demonstrate pattern for new rank

2nd Black Stripe - Able to demonstrate all areas from previous testings as well as required attendance for new rank
