4th Gup Testing Requirements (32 Classes minimum)

Basics (yellow stripe)

  • Spinning Hook Kick
  • Jump Kicks off back leg
  • (side and turning)
  • Jump Spinning Back Kick


Self Defense (blue stripe)

  • Hand Counter Attack
  • Foot Counter Attack


Physical Requirements (red stripe)

  • 35 push-ups
  • 35 crunches
  • 75 jumping jacks
  • Jump Rope
  • 12 & under - 150
  • 13 & over - 200

Patterns (black stripe)

  • Yul-Gok
  • Saju with all new techniques


Knowledge (green stripe)

  • Count to 70 in Korean
  • Meaning of Yul-Gok
  • Names & uses of all techniques in pattern
  • What does the NATA stand for
  • When was the NATA founded


Free Sparring

  • 1 round feet only
  • 1 round hands only
  • 1 round


Board Breaking

  • 8 boards adults
  • 5 boards kids (1")
  • (instructor choice)

The following will be used to show that the student is able to perform the task for each stripe:

Yellow Stripe - Able to perform all basics listed for new rank

Green Stripe - Able to show knowledge needed for new rank

Blue Stripe - Able to perform required self defense techniques for new rank

Red Stripe - Able to perform all physical fitness requirements for new rank

Black Stripe - Able to demonstrate pattern for new rank

2nd Black Stripe - Able to demonstrate all areas from previous testings as well as required attendance for new rank
