1st Gup Testing Requirements (40 Classes minimum)

Basics (yellow stripe)

  • Flying Spinning Back Kick
  • Flying Side Spinning Back Kick
  • Warm-up Class


Self Defense (blue stripe)

  • Techniques from patterns
  • Three Step Sparring


Physical Requirements (red stripe)

  • 50 push-ups
  • 50 crunches
  • 200 Jumping Jacks
  • Jump Rope 12 & under - 300
  • Jump Rope 13 & over - 350

Patterns (black stripe)

  • Hwa-Rang
  • Saju with all new techniques
  • Do-San to the right
  • Won-Hyo to the right
  • Patterns in a square


Knowledge (green stripe)

  • What styles made up TaeKwon-Do
  • Chung Do Kwon
  • Moo Duk Kwon
  • Yun Moo Kwon
  • Oh Do Kwon


Free Sparring

  • 1 gauntlet round (fight everyone)


Breaking

  • 10 boards/2 bricks adults
  • 8 boards/1 brick kids
  • (instructor choice)

The following will be used to show that the student is able to perform the task for each stripe:

Yellow Stripe - Able to perform all basics listed for new rank

Green Stripe - Able to show knowledge needed for new rank

Blue Stripe - Able to perform required self defense techniques for new rank

Red Stripe - Able to perform all physical fitness requirements for new rank

Black Stripe - Able to demonstrate pattern for new rank

2nd Black Stripe - Able to demonstrate all areas from previous testings as well as required attendance for new rank
